Separate stocks and ETFs

Although both are securities, I would prefer if they were separated in the overall overview. Cash and crypto are also separate. ETFs are equity conglomerates, stocks are stocks.

This post (and all comments) is now a wild mix of wishes. That is why we would like to give you an insight into what we are currently imagining:
The future categories in the dashboard (product groups. They are currently called “asset classes” but we will remove this name) will be:
- Value Apiers
- Cryptocurrencies
- Physical precious metals
- Real estate
- Other assets
- Cash
We won't separate stocks and ETFs in the dashboard, but we will include filters (which should also be able to be saved) so that you can sort by all kinds of product types or asset classes.
Our future asset classes (traditional asset classes by risk) will be as follows:
- Stocks (including z.B ETFs)
- Bonds (including z.B. ETFs)
- Cryptocurrencies (including ETPs in addition to normal cryptocurrencies)
- Precious metals (including, in addition to physical precious metals, z.B. ETCs)
- Real estate
- Other assets
- Cash (including z.B. money market funds)
You should also be able to filter for these asset classes.
There is a third point about this, our product types. The product types are divided into individual products: certificates, ETFs, stocks, bonds, funds, etc. - these should be filterable and visible in the analysis. However, we won't sort by individual sub-category by default in the dashboard (s.o.)
Stay tuned, we want to provide some new structuring options there and are therefore restructuring our asset class structure in the background. It can be assumed that the current wishes will be fulfilled, but we wanted to give you an insight. :-)

Björn Beier It will be possible to filter these categories/asset classes/product types described here in such a way that you can then also make the respective performance visible per view as under Dashboard => “Your Portfolios”. Currently, this is only possible if you invest in different portfolios

In the analysis for “Type”, there is already a distinction between share and ETF, but you can't include crypto or precious metals. That would be enough for me for now. That would be really great.

Introduction of virtual accounts/portfolio segmentation

Status Quo
Parqet currently supports various accounts, but the evaluation is usually aggregated or strictly separated according to bank imports. There is no flexibility to logically divide securities into “virtual pots” within an overall portfolio.
My suggestion
I would like to be able to create virtual portfolios (or sub-portfolios). I want to be able to flexibly allocate my existing holdings (stocks, ETFs, derivatives) to these virtual deposits — regardless of which real broker holds them.
Specific application examples:
• Main portfolio: Long-term ETF savings plans and blue chips.
• Gamble/Speculation: High-risk individual stocks or small caps.
• Derivations/Trading: Short-term positions and leveraged products.
Key Features/Requirements
• Flexible allocation: Assign individual holdings to a virtual portfolio via drag-and-drop or selection menu.
• Individual evaluation: All Parqet analysis tools (performance chart, asset allocation, dividend dashboard) should be filterable per virtual portfolio.
• Benchmarking: Comparing the performance of the various virtual depots with each other (z.B. “Will my gamble portfolio beat my core ETF?”).
• No duplicates: Ideally, a security should either be permanently assigned to a virtual portfolio or be able to be divided as a percentage.

After that I have everything I need for better tracking, please do it as soon as possible, then save a lot of work. Many thanks to everyone who is advancing this important issue, happy work, Gerhard

Björn Beier Will there also be free tags or categories that can be assigned? So that you are super flexible with the presentation?
Björn Beier
André: First, it will be displayable without tags. We then see whether there is still a need for tags at all or not. It's hard to explain now what our current idea is, but I think it'll be good!

Björn Beier Thanks for the update. It would be nice if it wasn't that long in coming.
It's a core feature for me.
Björn Beier
HoDler You can't imagine how much I've wanted the feature for a long time. ;-) We currently have something on the list, but we're slowly starting the necessary basic work.
Björn Beier
Jens It's not out yet:p But that's the idea anyway:)

Björn Beier, no offense, but it sounds like it's just getting more complicated and confusing than with the many key figures anyway.
I know that you firmly believe that stocks and ETFs are virtually the same thing. The problem, however, is not just the (visual) presentation - rather, this mixture destroys the dividend yield. If I have an accumulating ETF and various individual stocks, it makes zero sense to include the ETF in the dividend yield. Does your post above read as though this exact problem is not being resolved?
Björn Beier
Parqet Nutzer Using the planned filters, you could simply exclude the accumulating ETF from consideration (to see the dividend yield of all other products together).
Stocks & ETFs aren't the same thing, they're different types of products.
However, stocks & ETFs may have the same risk (same asset class), provided that the ETF contains 100% shares.
However, stocks & ETFs can also have a different asset class, provided that they are in ETF z.B. Bonds are included.
A categorization in the dashboard based on product types is too detailed. Let's just wait and see if everything works out as planned and the problem is resolved accordingly:)
As a workaround at this stage, you could simply use a separate portfolio, but it only works with PDF/CSV/manual import

Björn Beier class!
Thanks for the update.
Can you please also consider target allocations?! This would be important both for industries, countries,... and for asset classes. Well solved with PP

Björn Beier It's probably all already been mentioned here, but I would like to describe in my own words what my problem is in the current situation:
I need to divide my securities into shares in CHF, shares in USD, funds, bonds and metal. In order for me to get the performance of the individual “types” here, I have to create my own portfolio for each. (Which is not optimal, of course.) It should therefore also be possible to represent a subdivision of securities in the performance view. The division with tags would probably be the most flexible.
In addition, a subdivision of the dashboard view would then also be very desirable.

Please don't just separate stocks and ETFs. That wouldn't be progress for me. It would be important to me that a distinction is made in particular between equity ETF and bond ETF.
Uwe Reithuber
I would also welcome a division into “long-term portfolio” and “gambling.” I hold both stocks and ETFs in both areas and this is difficult to see from an overall perspective. The only other option would be to manually enter everything into 2 portfolios...

Both from the comments here and from my own experience/approach, the following subdivision appears useful:
- Stocks, ETF/funds, crypto.
- ETF/funds could be divided into stocks and shares.
Further refinements are certainly possible, but would not be effective in an overall overview m.E. Of course, tabs to fold out are also possible.
